first steps

We are raised to be proud
from the first steps we take
to the first words we speak.

Some are created to stand
before a crowd-find a path
to lead the way.

We are on this planet to love
our actions should reflect this purpose,
it's not just me--it is all of us.

It doesn't matter whom above
we speak to in prayers,
peace will never come through war.

We all must search within
to find the place where
we begin--

To realize our potential is more
Then the traps of foolishness
or rhetoric of those who lie.

Many great leaders have come before
Gandhi, Jesus, Buddha, Muhammad,
Krishna, King, Jehovah and more

They've spoken for us to hear
Now it's time for us to set aside differences
As we take our first steps.

Together let us speak of peace.
